Formed in 2006, King Tuesday is Shawn Hels on drums, Ryan Pearce on guitar, Rob Parkos on bass, and Andy Benson, Joe Ferguson, and Chelsea Csargo on vocals. Hailing from Minneapolis, MN, originally influenced by Rage Against The Machine and Red Hot Chili Peppers, King Tuesday quickly developed their own original brand and style. The energy of the mix between rock and hip hop that King Tuesday creates; it carries into a live performance and has the potential to grab the attention of any listener. Between the talent and team work of the 3 vocalists backed by the funky blues-based rock of the band, most of those listeners often tend to take note.
The first King Tuesday EP Wishes was released at the Nomad World Pub in Minneapolis in May of 2010. This freshman effort was raw and rough but it did feature some well thought out tunes such as “Sunday Morning” which featured a cameo by Big Jess of The Unknown Prophets and “BJM” which is a hard rocking tribute to The Brian Jonestown Massacre. After the release original drummer Ryan Shortridge and DJ Bill Hallberg moved on to other areas of life.
Shawn Hels replaced Ryan Shortridge, and Chelsea Csargo was brought in to complete one of the best vocal teams in the Twin Cities. In November 2012 King Tuesday released their second EP Overthrone. Overthrone featured the single “Grounded” produced and engineered by Universal American in Columbus, Ohio, which clearly displays the potential of King Tuesday.
King Tuesday is currently looking to go into the studio to begin recording Neighborhood Light Show their first LP, with a tentative release date of late summer 2013. And plan touring regionally in late summer and fall 2013 to promote Neighborhood Light Show.
The members of King Tuesday share a common goal, which is to write songs with our heart on our sleeves, to give everything we have in each performance, and to share the love we receive from our fans.
